History of Deafzone
October 2000

Because the founder of Deafzone Michael Heuberger was too lazy to maintain an agenda and an address list in the year 2000, he developped an online calendar and address list where everyone could manage their addresses and calendar entries on their own.
The first version of Deafzone was rather freaky and has become the deaf underground in the cyberspace. So we can state that Deafzone is born without any plans and just for fun. Sometimes we cannot belive how far it has become today! Our greatest thanks are devoted to the Deafzone users, thank you!
Deafzone Version 1.0 goes online on October 2000, after half an year in March 2001 we count over 5000 unqiue visits!

The users demand for a better version, so the founder needs more support and forms the Deafzone Webclan.
Michael Heuberger, Ueli Hilfiker, Alessandro Gabrieli and Daniel Marti are the first four members of the Webclan, today they form the Senior Webclan.
So arises Deafzone Version 2.0 with new design and structure. New are discussions and surveys which become quickly very popular!
March 2002
We celebrate the relase of Version 2.0 and the 25th anniversary of the founder with a big party. Over 250 people are there, living the deaf culture, enjoy the discussions, drinks and music.
Michael is put in a bath tube and was shot mercilessly with cakes! Is this love?
Summer 2002
Again the current version reaches its limits. That is why the webclan is being resized and starts the challenging project Deafzone Version 3.0.
The the four very new member of the resized 8-headed Webclan are Emanuel Nay, Kelvin Wong, Stanko Pavlica and Thomas Schmidt.
2003
Deafzone is the one and only website for deaf people which delivers the news on the ballot fight "Behinderteninitiative".
Politicans feed Deafzone with never before published material because Deafzone is independent and does not belong to any organisation.
March 2004
New record in March 2004! On average there are over 900 unique visitors each day (invalid visits like search engines subtracted).
This again demonstrates the need for a better version. The expecations for Deafzone Version 3.0 are rising but the project is still in a early stage.
Winter 2007

Finally after many thousand man hours and testing we publish with pride the multilingual Deafzone Version 3.0.
The Deafzone Webclan goes from development over to production, therefore our internal structure is changed too.
